Founded in 2001 by Students, Big Band is one of orchestral fundaments in Poznan’s Music Academy. The main purpose of band’s existence is finding connections between jazz tradition and contemporary music expression as well as inspiring young artists to create their own, experimental scores. Aside from completely fresh and original compositions, based on ethnic and free-jazz music, band’s repertoire contains American standards of Duke Ellington and Count Basie, orchestral pieces of Miles Davis and Gil Evans and scores of Krzysztof Komeda and Jerzy Milian.

Big Band was awarded several times during festivals in Nowy Tomysl and Bydgoszcz.
